Theoretical Chemistry

Associated Faculty

Theoretical chemistry is the development and application of mathematical descriptions of chemical phenomena. Often this concerns computational solutions of the Schrödinger Equation (often called quantum chemistry) or the development and study of empirical models of molecules and their interactions.

Theoretical research activities in our Department include simulation studies of sol-gel materials, gas adsorption, hydrogen storage, liquid-vapor surface tension, liquid structure,
and the density functional theory of fluids.
