Shop in the storeroom – After a researcher is setup with an account, they can shop during normal working hours.  The storeroom supplies general  chemicals, glassware, apparatus, and miscellaneous supplies.

Forms are self-explanatory, and provide directions for requesting emergency orders. Your professor must sign all pre-requisitions before the order can be placed. Completed forms should be left in the Storeroom's mailbox in M525, or if urgent, bring it to the Storeroom Office for immediate handling. After the order has been placed, the forms are returned to you for your records. Please keep this form for the document number will assist us should you have questions as to the status of an item. When your items arrive, the storeroom will notify you.

Haztrak User Guide for Chemistry
An introduction to the purpose and primary functions of Haztrak

Haztrak (http://haztrak.wustl.edu) is a web-based application designed to facilitate tracking of hazardous substances within the University.  For most users, it is simply an inventory system.  However, the data maintained in Haztrak allows us to track a substance from the time it arrives on campus to the time it leaves campus, as well as report total quantities of a given type of substance in a specific area at any given time.  Each inventoried chemical will have a trackable Haztrak ID label placed on the container for identification.

In order to gain access into the Haztrak system, a member of the storeroom group must add a new account for you.  At the time the account is created, you will be granted access to one or more of the many inventories maintained within the system.  Once you have been given your account and logon information, you may log in at any time.  Once in the system, you can choose to work on your inventory, or to use the system’s query facility.

Inventory - Most new chemicals will arrive in your inventory automatically, either though a direct purchase from the storeroom, or through a vendor order submitted to the storeroom.  When you purchase chemicals directly from the storeroom, you need to log your purchase in Haztrak as part of the standard purchasing process.  When ordering a chemical from a vendor, it will be credited to your inventory as soon as the storeroom receives it.

Emptied Container – When a container is leaving your lab, either because its contents have been used or because you are transferring the remaining contents elsewhere, you will need to log that event in Haztrak.  It is the responsibility of each user to maintain his inventory.

Reports - Several reports are available from the user’s inventory.  These include a complete alphabetical list of chemicals in a particular room, as well as a listing of chemicals in a room based on their particular hazard category.  The latter report is interactive, allowing the user to hide or show whatever hazard classes are of interest.

WU-EHS - Under this tab, users can view reports provided by EH&S, such as a list of known carcinogens.

Query - If you are interested in trying to find a particular chemical within the department, then the query function is what you will want to use.  The query function searches all inventories in the department looking for containers that meet your search criteria.  There are no edit capabilities associated with a query result set.

This system was designed to be as straight-forward as possible.  However, if you have any questions, contact the storeroom personnel, and they will be able to provide you with more detailed information.
