Application Process
Please find below instructions for applying to the Graduate Program in Chemistry at Washington University.
Application packet
The Application Packet includes:
- Application Form (4 pages)
- Application Fee Form (1 page)
- Application Fee-Waiver Form (1 page)
(There are no fee waivers for students outside of the U.S.A.) - Letter of Recommendation Form (2 pages)
The Application Packet may be obtained by
- Sending an email to the admissions coordinator (chemistry-admissions@wustl.edu).
Note: A packet plus a departmental catalog will be mailed to you. A departmental summary is mailed to international inquiries.
- Downloading the application packet.
Note: A departmental catalog can not be downloaded. However, a departmental summary is included in the downloaded packet.
- Download the document in pdf format.
Adobe Acrobat or another PDF viewer is required to view and print the application packet in PDF format.
- Download the document in Microsoft Office Word (.doc) format.
You can use Microsoft Office Word to view and print the application.

Completing your application
- Fill out the application form and the grade-summary form and mail, along with a $45 application fee or a validated fee-waiver form, (There are no fee waivers for students outside of the U.S.A.) to the address below. Have official transcripts and three (3) letters of recommendation sent to the same address.

St. Louis, MO 63130-4899 - Make three (3) copies of the letter of recommendation form. Fill in the boxes of each form with your name and address before giving the forms to your recommender to complete. Your recommender should return them to the departmental address given above and listed on the form. Remember to sign the letter of recommendation form!
