Hours of operation: 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday

The Chemistry Storeroom, M-102, is open to graduate students and postdoctoral research associates during staff working hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., when the doors are unlocked. Since access is limited to day hours, it is to your advantage to PLAN AHEAD. Emergency needs after these hours on weekdays and on weekends may be met by requesting the assistance of your faculty research advisor, who has a key to the storeroom. The storeroom supplies general glassware, apparatus, chemicals, gases, and computer supplies.

On your first visit to the storeroom, please introduce yourself to the storeroom personnel, they will take your picture and place it in the departmental picture gallery on the 5th floor of McMillen. They will show you around and explain the procedures for signing out inventory items. All items removed from the storeroom MUST be entered on the workstation computer, printed and signed by you, in order to maintain inventory and generate monthly billings.

The storeroom supervisor, Nancy Picker, handles all Purchase Orders for the Department. Prerequisition forms for purchasing are kept on a wall rack in the main office, M525 and in the storeroom office, M102. Forms are self-explanatory, and provide directions for requesting emergency orders. Your professor must sign all prerequisitions before the order can be placed. Completed forms should be left in the Storeroom's mailbox in M525, or if urgent, bring it to the Storeroom Office for immediate handling. After the order has been placed, the forms are returned to you for your records. Please keep this form for the document number will assist us should you have questions as to the status of an item. When your items arrive, the storeroom will notify you.

In addition, there are two programs sponsored by the storeroom:

  1. The CHEMSEARCH program that will search and locate any and all chemicals within the department;
  2. the CHEMSHARE program, which is a listing of free chemicals available in the storeroom.

For further information on either program, contact Nancy Picker (X5-6562) in the storeroom.
