Dr. Kit Mao, our General Chemistry Laboratory Director and Senior Lecturer, has been teaching the Chem 151/152 course sequence for more than a decade in our department. Prior to her appointment as the Lab Director, she was taught the Chem 151/152 course sequence for University College since the early 1980s. So, Kit has been a fixture in our department for quite some time and has taught thousands of Wash U students! She has managed this course through significant growth, from an average class size of about 400 to an average class size of about 900, and has developed many of the laboratory experiments the students perform every semester. Kit has loved teaching our Washington University students, with their passion to learn and their quick intellects. Kit looks forward to retirement, so she can spend more time with her husband and make more frequent visits to her family in Hong Kong. We wish Kit a happy and relaxing retirement; she deserves to take a rest!
