This position is perfect for students taking a “gap year” between undergrad and medical school or graduate school! The schedule can be very flexible and you can interview for medical schools or work part-time in a research lab while working for the Chemistry Department.
Duties involve supervision of General Chemistry laboratory classes, including grading, laboratory maintenance, development of experiments, and other administrative duties. The applicant must have excellent laboratory skills, the ability to effectively communicate with students and give students specific feedback on how to improve laboratory skills, excellent English language skills, and a commitment to laboratory safety. The applicants must be willing to be flexible with hours and adapt to changing responsibilities. The teaching assistants will have exposure to a variety of chemicals in the laboratory and must have the ability to lift about 30 pounds occasionally. A Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or Biology is required. Candidates with an advanced degree will be considered. Teaching experience is preferred.
