The Flame Test

Conduct the flame test by first dipping a clean platinum ring into the analyte then inserting the ring into a burner flame at the tip of the inner cone (the hottest part, see picture below) and observe the color.

Potassium Hydroxide
(KOH)
Lithium Carbonate
(Li2CO3)
Cobalt Chloride
(CoCl2)
NaBr
CuSO4
BaCl2
Sodium Bromide
