1. Calculate the distance between nearest neighbors.
   Answer: 10.02 Å.

2. Given that the radius of C is approximately 3.53 Å, calculate the distance between spheres.
   Answer: ~2.96 Å.

   Note: This compares to a distance of 3.35 Å between the planar sheets of carbon atoms in graphite.
